How to do concentration curls

Concentration curls are a great way to ensure that you use strict form on your curls.  Because they're a little harder, you'll have to use less weight than you normally do when curling barbells.  This fantastic dumbbell curl movement will add peak and definition to your biceps.  Again, using light weight is the key to this exercise.

Here is how you would perform this exercise.

1.  With a dumbbell in your hand, sit on a bench and lean forward and rest your arm on the inner part of your thigh.

2.  Your palm should be facing your opposite thigh.

3.  Raise dumbbell by slowly bending to a point just short of your shoulder.

4.  Lower the dumbbell by slowly straightening your elbow to the starting position.

Don'ts

-Lean or rock backward and forward in an effort hoist the dumbbell up—you could hurt your back.  If your form isn't perfect, immediately lessen the weight.

-Move your leg side to side in an effort to help you lift the weight.

Do's

-Keep your abdomen tight and your back erect as you are leaning forward.
