How to do tricep extensions

You know what gives championship boxers their powerful jab? Biceps? Wrong, try again.  It's the triceps that are responsible for that piston-like punch that will keep your opponent (or the heavy bag) at bay.  The bottom line is that it's an excellent way to work your triceps.

Here is how you would perform this exercise.

1.  While standing or sitting, raise the dumbbell overhead and bend your elbow to a point where you are feeling a stretch in the tricep.

2.  Begin to straighten your elbow, and slowly return to your initial starting position.

Don'ts

-Shift your body from side to side in an effort to raise the weight.

-Snap or lock your elbow upon straightening it.

-Allow the weight to fall rapidly to the starting position.

Do's

-Keep your abdomen tight whether sitting or standing.

-Concentrate on your triceps and move gently through a full range of motion.
